HTC Gratia Release Date for UK

HTC has clarified that the HTC Gratia is still set for the same release date here in the UK. Previously, reports indicated that it was being delayed, but HTC has made a statement about the release date of the phone.

“HTC Gratia is now available across several European markets, and is on track to be released in the UK in Q1 2011 as originally planned.

“We are looking forward to seeing people’s response to HTC Gratia.”

Android Angry Birds Hits 7 Million Downloads

Angry Birds for smartphones on the Android platform seems to be catching up with iOS installs. So far, the game has been download 7 million times to Android handsets.

On iOS based devices, that number was at 10 million on the last announcement which means the game is fast reaching 20 million downloads across both platforms. [Read more…]

Windows Phone 7 Sales Numbers Hinted at With Facebook Stats

Microsoft [MSFT] hasn’t released any official numbers yet about how the new Windows Phone 7 operating system is doing. However, WMPowerUser managed to grab some statistics from the WP7 Facebook app that shows how many users are active in using that app.

iOS 4.2 Supports Tech to Reduce Network Congestion

Nokia Siemens has provided some interesting details that indicated the latest iOS 4.2.1 update Apple [AAPL] released last week, includes some new tech that helps reduce congestion on cellular networks. In doing this, it also increases battery life by decreasing network usage on the phone.

Nokia Siemens Networks is one of the worlds top suppliers when it comes to cellular infrastructure. The company also points out that Nokia Smartphones have also included this tech in the basebands of the phones since the beginning of this year. With Nokia and Apple both using the new tech, it will certainly take a lot of strain off the networks given that they account for more than half of the smartphone sales from what NSN says. Motorola Olympus Captured on Camera

More pictures of the Motorola Olympus have been sent in to Gizmodo. This time, the phone was found in a flea market. The person managed to capture some pictures of the device, in a good resolution and not blurry which makes a change.

Things known about the phone show that it runs Android 2.2 as the OS. Its model number is MB860 and inside, a Tegra 2 chip can be found. [Read more…]
