Samsung Epic 4G Froyo Update Pulled due to Issues

The Samsung Epic 4G Android 2.2 Froyo update had started rolling out a few days ago although we now hear that the update has been pulled due to a few issues.

The reason Samsung pulled the update was due to an increasing number of support calls that reported a handful of problems. Some of those problems include issues with the SD card which causes problems when accessing data such as music, pictures or video. [Read more…]

Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Download Now Ready

For those of you a little too impatient to wait for the Nexus One and Nexus S Android 2.3.3 update to arrive OTA, XDA Developers have you covered as they now have the roms available for you to download and install now.

The updates are the same as the OTA ones that Google is gradually pushing out over the next few days/perhaps weeks, and as they are official you “shouldn’t” have any problem running them. [Read more…]

MobileMe Retail Boxes to be Discontinued

Resellers have been notified by Apple [AAPL], that the retail box version of the MobileMe services are coming to an end and that in future, all sales (see more details below) of the product will be digital.

The reason the MobileMe boxes are available in store was basically for promotional services only. When purchasing MobileMe from a store, you get an activation code and a few promotional materials. [Read more…]

iPad 2 Mockup Pictured

We’re just days away from the unveiling of the Apple iPad 2 and what we see here is a mockup of what it could look like.

What makes this mockup more possible is that it apparently has been created by an iPad case manufacturer over in Japan and was designed using the exact dimensions that are provided to those manufacturers so they can create the necessary cases. [Read more…]

The Android Developers youtube account has uploaded a video that shows the progress of Android activations. The graph shows data for every day from October 2008 to January 2011.

GMail for Android Update Pulled from Market

Yesterday, Google updated the GMail app for Android smartphones. If you are trying to get to that update now then you will be out of luck, for now, as a few bugs have surfaced which has caused Google to take it down from the Android Market.

If you managed to get the update before it was taken down and are seeing problems, Google recommends uninstalling the updates to the GMail app. [Read more…]

Mac OS X Lion Developer Preview Available

If you are enrolled in the Mac Developer Program then Apple just made available the Max OS X Lion developer preview for you.

The preview is available through the Mac App Store and gives developers a glimpse of what is to come. As explained in the press release, Lion… “takes some of the best ideas from iPad and brings them back to the Mac for the eighth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system. Lion features Mission Control, an innovative new view of everything running on your Mac; Launchpad, a new home for all your Mac apps; full screen apps that use the entire Mac display; and new Multi-Touch gestures. FaceTime Arrives in Mac App Store

Along with todays 2011 MacBook Pro announcements, Apple has also made FaceTime available at the Mac App Store.

The service is very similar, if not the same as you have already used on the iMac and other Mac computers in that you load it up, login with your Apple ID and password, and then make video calls to other FaceTime devices which includes the iPod touch and iPhone 4. [Read more…]

2011 MacBook Pro Line Updated – Official

Well, it finally happened and not a minute too soon. Apple [AAPL] has announced a new range of MacBook Pro’s for 2011. The new 2011 MacBook Pro range is said to use the next generation processors, graphics as well as use the leaked Thunderbolt I/O technology.

MacBook Pro Specifications Leaked

We’re perhaps just an hour away from finding out what the new MacBook Pro’s will bring. What we have found out though, is that the specs have actually already leaked.

Five new MacBook Pro SKU’s are expected which includes two with 13 inch screens, two 15.4 inch models and a 17 inch model. The leak also shows that the 17 inch model will have an Intel Quad-Core CPU (an i7) running at 2.2 GHz. It will also have 4GB RAM and a 750GB hard drive. The graphics will be powered by a Radeon HD 6750 1GB GPU. [Read more…]

Apple NC Datacenter for iTunes and MobileMe

During the annual shareholders meeting yesterday, Apple [AAPL] was asked about the datacenter being built in Norch Carolina. In response, Apple said that the new datacenter was to be used for both iTunes and MobileMe services.

This new datacenter, that opens within days, will start offering services for iTunes/MobileMe sometime later this year. Apple also commented that this is the second datacenter that they own with the other one being in Newark, California. [Read more…]

HTC Facebook Phones to Arrive in June (UK)

For those wanting a “Facebook Phone”, we hear today that the HTC ChaCha and Salsa smartphones will be arriving in the UK and going on sale this coming June.

The exact release date of these particular Facebook phones is the 18th June. What makes these devices Facebook Phones is the deep integration that the user interface has with the social network.
