The Hackberry A10 developer board is a similar idea to the Raspberry Pi. The main difference is that it is more powerful and is loaded up with a bit more RAM, has built in storage as well as a WiFi connection.
The device can be used for a number of applications such as bring connected up to your TV (via HDMI) and used as a media center as well as on to other applications such as robotics, automation tasks, smart homes etc…
Price wise, the Hackberry A10 costs more than the RPi and has a price tag of $60 for the 512MB version and $65 for the 1GB version.
Powering the device is an ARM Cortex-A8 chip that utilizes Mali 400 graphics. The graphics chip isn’t the most powerful available, but for the relatively cheap cost of the board you still can push out HD video to the TV quite easily.
One thing you’ll notice is the board is literally just an open board with connectors soldered to it. It actually comes like this. You will need to make your own case for it if you want it protected. Alternatively, RPi owners have found 3D printing services which you can design or download a case and send it off to be 3D printed for your device. If the Hackberry A10 takes off, we can assume that 3D case designs will be made available on line.
Compatible operating systems include Linix and Android with the device shipping with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Overall, an impressive device and that impressiveness seems to have caught on already as the company who sells them, Miniand, is already out of stock. Keep your eye on that site though as they could become available soon.
