Halo: Reach – $200 Million Sales in its first 24 hours

Record-breaking sales of $200 million has catapulted, once again, the Halo series as the biggest entertainment launch in 2010 for the US alone.

As mentioned before in a previous post “Halo: Reach, touchdown” Halo: Reach is the 4th instalment of the Halo series which is set prior to that of Halo: Combat Evolved, in the year 2552 where the player takes control of Noble 6, a member of an elite supersoldier squad during the battle for the world of Reach as the Covenant begin their assault on the planet.

“Halo: Reach is the biggest game Microsoft has ever released, and its launch has already surpassed every game, movie and entertainment launch this year,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. He also said “Every major instalment has grown in scope and popularity, firmly cementing the ‘Halo’ franchise as one of the most popular entertainment properties in the world over the past decade.” (curtesy of techngadgets.co.uk)

All over the world, thousands upon thousands of retail stores including Gamestation and GAME, opened their doors for midnight, allowing hordes of fans the world over to pick up their copy of Halo: Reach.

The game is still expected to do incredibly well throughout the weekend and in the weeks to come also which, by the shear number of sales, has placed the Halo franchise firmly in history.
