LG Optimus 2X Dual Core Android Smartphone Announced

LG has announced the LG Optimus 2X. The Optimus 2X runs a 1GHz dial-core processor (NVIDIA Tegra 2) and has a 4 inch WVGA screen. Other features include 8GB of memory that can be expanded a further 32GB by using a microSD card.

On the back is an 8 megapixel camera and on the front, a 1.3 megapixel camera. HDMI mirroring is available on this device and it is capable of playing 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 content.

This particular model was previously spotted as the LG Star back in the middle of November and has now been revealed as the Optimus 2X.

The 2X is the first smartphone to run a dual-core processor in the form of an NVIDIA Tegra 2 although this wont be long as several other devices are rumored to be announced any day now with that same powerful configuration.

When launched, it will run Android 2.2 (not 2.3) although LG are looking in to updating the 2X to Android 2.3 in due course.

The phone will be launched in Korea next month and will then move to Europe and Asia shortly after that. Pricing is not known at the moment.
