Mac OS X Lion Could be Launched Via App Store

When Apple launch the next version of OS X, we could see it launching via the Mac App store before being sold online or in store. By making the operating system available through the App Store, it allows those running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard a simple way to get hold of the latest version of the OS.

The new operating system will not be launching until summer of this year, but when it arrives it will bring some aspects of the iPad iOS version to the desktop. It is expected that Apple will announce the new distribution method at WWDC in early June.

Although this method of downloading an OS update seems new, the beta versions are already downloadable via the App Store which makes this “rumour” a good hint that the download method could be a viable path forwards.
