NTT DoCoMo Confirms November Launch for Galaxy Nexus

NTT DoCoMo has confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus smartphone will be launching in November. The device will be announced in Hong Kong in the next few hours.

The new smartphone is an Android based device that will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This is also the first device to run the said operating system.

At the moment we don’t have the official technical specs but rumours are hinting that Google/Samsung could be opting for a world phone configuration like the iPhone 4S. We’ve also heard that there are some exclusivity contracts that have been signed which could mean that Verizon gets the exclusive on the device.

We expect to hear later on that the device will have a 1.5GHz dual-core processor as well as a 4.65 inch screen that can show 1280 x 720 pixels. The device will use a Super AMOLED HD display. Other features include a curved chassis (as seen above in the side profile shot) as well as curved glass. The camera is 8 megapixels and is expected to record HD video at 1080p although we also need confirmation of that.

We’ll get all the details later on today.
