Panasonic Launch UK’s First Blu-Ray Recorders

Panasonic launched 2 new Blu-Ray Disc recorders today at the Birmingham NEC named the DMR-BS850 and the DMR-BS750. As well as 2 new BD recorders a HD Recorder was also launched. Lets take a look at what each can do.

Each of the 3 models are compatible with freesat+ which allows you to capture video in HD quality. Also each of the 3 models come supplied with twin tuners which allows you to record 2 programs at the same time or watch a program whilst recording another. Recording is initially done direct to hard disk and can then be saved in the H.264 format. Using H.264 means that drive space can store more data on to it, ie.. more recorded programs. The format allows up to 24 hours of HD content to be crammed on to a Blu-Ray Disc (in high-speed copy mode).

To playback the HD data, each of the 3 models has a high-image-quality PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus as well as P4 HD. A mixture of these 2 technologies allow for image quality to match the original film recording which is sharp and full of detail.

Dolby TrueHD and DTS-Master Audio Essential is offered on the DMR-BS850 and the BS-750. You are able to connect these 2 players/recorders to a 7.1 channel surround sound system.

They are impressive looking devices and well worth looking out for if you are planning on creating some HD content.
