Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Android 2.1 Update Coming September

For those of you in the UK, an interesting tweet was sent out that indicates an X10 Android 2.1 update will be arriving at the end of September.

The tweet came from Sony Ericsson UK and says…

@KOR_9S We can only confirm that the upgrade to Android 2.1 is due for release before the end of September this year. We hope this helps.

It isn’t clear right now if the Sony Ericsson UK twitter account only covers the UK, or if what they say could mean it lands on ALL Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 smartphones. We hope for the latter.

It isn’t clear yet when and if the X10 will get the Android 2.2 update, but we suspect it might arrive after Android 3.0 launches with how long it’s taken to get 2.1 on the X10.

  1. well, guess it’s time to dump the x10. sony ericsson will definitely NOT be my next phone, and if anyone asks, will say that they are not worth considering, because there are just too may really great phones out there without the planned premature obsolescence path that sony ericsson apparently likes to take. I think they should offer and upgrade opportunity to their customers. Just to make it up to them for their dropping the ball in the realllllly late release,of android 2.1, and the shortcomings of the phone in general. I mean to release a phone that is out dated before it is pretty much offered to the public. not cool sony.

(now as I sit here posting this, I realize that no one at sony ericsson will ever read this post. So I guess this post is rather pointless.)

  2. zagg rocks

  3. what really kills me is the premium price for a not so premium phone
