Sony KDL46Z4500 200Hz 1080p LCD

sony-kdl46z4500The Sony KDL46Z4500 is a 46″ LCD screen that runs in full HD at 1080p. An exclusive technology was built in to this TV that allows for 200Hz refreshes making it a world first when the TV was launched a few months back.

Sony KDL46Z4500 Features

* 46″ Sony BRAVIA LCD TV
* Experience deeper blacks (over 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio) and the most realistic colour reproduction thanks to local dimming RGB Dynamic LED backlight technology
* Enjoy all the music and photo content from your computer on your TV with DLNA home networking technology
* Watch TV, movies and games in High Definition detail thanks to the 6.2 mega Pixel resolution
* When you are not watching TV, turn it into a digital picture frame with Picture Frame Mode. Fill the black hole in your living room by using your TV to display your own pictures or the 6 pre-installed images
* If you enjoy watching films then this is the TV for you – view movies exactly how the director intended with 24p True Cinema
* Control your entire home cinema set-up with just one click on the TV remote and access the menus on compatible peripheral devices such as Handycam® camcorders thanks to BRAVIA Sync
* Four HDMI¢ inputs (three on rear, one on side, all with CEC) make it even easier to connect to High Definition sources such as Blu-ray Disc¢ and PLAYSTATION®3
* Share music, photos, and video by connecting your personal digital devices such as WALKMAN® or iPod® to your BRAVIA TV with the Digital Media Port
* Alter the volume of voices without changing background volume with Voice Zoom
* Watch digital TV with the integrated standard definition digital terrestrial tuner (MPEG-2, also receives analogue)

The features that catch my attention are the 200Hz speed and the ability to have deeper blacks thanks to local RGB dimming capabilities.

On the connectivity side of things the TV has four HDMI inputs which is rather good considering many of us now own several HD devices that could connect up to this screen. I’d rather have more then less of the HDMI inputs so there is no faffing around with cables each time you want to switch to another source.

An interesting feature of the KDL46Z500 is Voice Zoom. What this does is allow you to keep the background noise down while boosting the voices. This is a nice solution to the hate I have of loud explosions when your trying to watch a film late at night.

Overall, another impressive TV from Sony and well worth looking in to if you want that little bit extra in the way of features from a TV.

Sounds great, but it’s also over $2,770 USD, which ain’t cheap. It’s safe to say LCD’s have pretty much gone as far as they’re going to tech wise.
