Super Mario All-Stars Landing on Wii This Coming December

The little Italian plumber (why he was Italian, I still haven’t the faintest idea) must be one of the most famous video game characters ever, if not, THE most.

I remember playing Super Mario Bros. for the first time on my Nintendo Game Boy in not so glorious black and white (actually rather different shades of green) when I was about 12 years old. Then when I finally had the cash (acquired from paper route money) I got my little hands on a Super NES and stuck in my copy of Super Mario All-Stars for the first time which contained the most quintessential games ever to grace any console, they being, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, and Super Mario Bros 3. It was FANTASTIC.

Now though, in 2010 we celebrate Mario’s 25th anniversary and with that we have the soon to be released SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) collection of NES classics featuring Mario’s earliest adventures coming to the Nintendo Wii this Christmas. Though at present, only Europe and Japan seem to be getting this little collection for the time being.

Previously reported as first only to have a Japanese release and also including a special CD containing various antique tunes from the beloved series as well as a 25th Anniversary booklet detailing the plumber’s history in gaming.

The original collection first arrived in Japan in 1985 but it wasn’t until 1987 when it had a wider release in Europe.

We’ve included a little collection of screen shots to wet your gaming taste buds for its re-release in a couple months time. Enjoy.

Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros. 2

Super Mario Bros. 3

In Japan at least we know that the package will go on sale for ¥2,500 (£19, $30)–which is lower than most first-party titles at the moment. What’s more as well, is that Nintendo will also be releasing a Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary edition Nintendo Wii for the celebration.
